Ever notice how people change when they fall in love? It's like their entire world shifts, and suddenly they're into things they never cared about before. In Bollywood, that shift can be especially dramatic! Let's dive into a charming little story about Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal, and how their romance influenced Katrina's music taste, as revealed by Kriti Sanon.
Picture this: Vicky Kaushal, known for his love of Punjabi music, is on a road trip from Alibaug with his then-girlfriend, Katrina Kaif. He's playing a Punjabi song he's really vibing to, and Katrina, surprisingly, starts to enjoy it too. Vicky later shared the full story on 'Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle', where he and Kriti Sanon were guests. But here's where it gets controversial... What happens next is both adorable and a little bit dangerous, according to Vicky!
"I love Punjabi music," Vicky explained on the show. "Once we were traveling, before we got married, and I was really into this one song. She started enjoying it too...Then she very cutely made a video of herself singing that song in Punjabi. She was like, 'I'm going to sing this song!' She thought it was a romantic song."
And this is the part most people miss: Vicky had to quickly step in and warn her about the song's actual meaning! It turns out the song wasn't a sweet love ballad at all. "She said, 'Please don't sing this in front of anyone. This isn't the right song'," he explained, revealing that the lyrics had more to do with "gangster vibes," including talk of weapons and violence. Imagine Katrina, known for her elegant image, belting out a song about, well, that!
But the story gets even better. Kriti Sanon, who used to work out at the same gym as Katrina, noticed a significant shift in Katrina's musical preferences before the wedding. "We used to work out in the same gym, me and Katrina. And when she started dating you [Vicky], suddenly, her playlist changed. Suddenly, her playlist had Punjabi music. I looked at her and said, 'This is your playlist?!' Because those were definitely not the songs she was listening to before." Kriti added, hilariously imitating Katrina's response: "'Yeah, I like it. I can update you.'"
It's a testament to the power of love, isn't it? How willingly we embrace the things our partners enjoy, even if they're completely outside our comfort zone.
Vicky and Katrina's romance, which blossomed over several years, culminated in a beautiful wedding on December 9, 2021, at Six Senses Fort Barwara in Rajasthan. And in even more exciting news, they welcomed their first son on November 7th of this year!
As for their careers, fans can look forward to seeing Vicky in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Love & War," an "epic saga" also starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, slated for a 2026 release. Katrina was last seen in Sriram Raghavan's "Merry Christmas" in 2024.
Kriti, on the other hand, will be sharing the screen with Dhanush in Aanand L Rai's "Tere Ishk Mein," set to release on November 28th. The film is produced by Gulshan Kumar's T-Series and Colour Yellow Productions, with Aanand L Rai, Himanshu Sharma, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar at the helm.
