Get ready for a game-changer in the automotive world! Chery's Jetour brand is about to unveil its latest masterpiece: the Jetour Traveller PHEV, a powerful and versatile SUV with an impressive three-motor hybrid system.
But here's the twist: This isn't just any hybrid. The Jetour Traveller C-DM, formerly the Shanhai T2, boasts a whopping 340 kW and 700 Nm of torque, making it a force to be reckoned with. And that's not all—it offers an all-electric range of up to 208 km, as revealed by D-Auto. This SUV is designed for those who crave adventure and need ample space for family trips.
The upcoming November 17 launch in China will showcase a refreshed lineup. The petrol-powered Traveller comes with either a 1.5 T or 2.0 T engine, while the real star is the plug-in hybrid C-DM. With its slightly longer wheelbase compared to the previous Shanhai T2, the C-DM offers more room and comfort.
The exterior design retains the boxy, rugged look, but with modern updates. The 2026 model features a simplified fog-lamp area, a side-hinged spare wheel (on the hybrid), and sleek transparent tail lights. Inside, passengers can expect a luxurious experience with options like a panoramic sunroof and rear privacy glass.
Under the hood, the petrol Traveller's engines pack a punch, with 135 kW and 187 kW options, both mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. But the C-DM hybrid is the true powerhouse, combining a 1.5 T engine with dual front motors or a three-motor setup for higher trims, delivering an incredible 340 kW and 700 Nm. And with its intelligent all-wheel drive, it's ready for any terrain.
Price-wise, the petrol models start at an attractive 139,900 yuan, competing with the Honda CR-V and Nissan X-Trail. Meanwhile, the C-DM is priced closer to its predecessor, the Shanhai T2, targeting the Haval Dragon PHEV and Beijing BJ40 in the extended-range SUV segment.
Chery's Jetour brand is all about delivering SUVs that cater to travelers and adventure seekers. By offering both petrol and high-performance hybrids, they're giving customers a taste of the future of Chinese automotive engineering.
And this is just the beginning. As China moves towards complete electrification, we can expect even more innovative and powerful vehicles from brands like Jetour. But will these hybrid SUVs truly satisfy the needs of both family buyers and adventure enthusiasts? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
